Black Silk Project

This project started in 2011 borne of a vision to create exotic and exciting machines pushing the boundaries of craftsmanship and the exploration of new design conventions, beautiful Handmade Watches that would give their owners a sense of magic every time they check the time.

The first limited edition watch is called Black Silk and will incorporate a twelve second 'remontoir', visible co-axial escapement and power reserve indicator.

Movement design is complete and construction has already commenced on individual parts, expressions of interest are welcome with some aspects such as Hands and final Dial colours to be left to the ultimate owner’s choice.

Black Silk will require an investment in time - around 1200 man hours, machinery that can deliver 5 micron accuracy, watchmaking 'know how', complex technology and the application of micro-mechanical principles. A number of artisans will contribute skills such as Gold-smithing and Enamelling techniques that can only be achieved through a lifetime of experience.

Every part will be made ‘in house’, except where raw materials or technology is not accessible such as the manufacture of Hairsprings and bearing ‘jewels’. The Black Silk Project will be investing in Research and Development of these technologies with every expectation that 100% of our product will be made ‘in house’ within the near future.

Why Black Silk? In a break from convention, the main plates and bridges will be anodised with black rhodium plating to accentuate the lines and edges of the components in the movement.
